I wasn't groomed by a rich family; I didn't go to an Ivy League school. The 1% is silencing it.</h3>In 2017, I left my job as a digital marketer, consultant, and project manager. I was making a great living, but I didn't feel alive. When I saw homeless veterans begging on the sidewalk, I felt selfish. So, I sold everything except my camping gear, bought two Husky waterproof storage bins and survival gear, packed up my car, and set off with my trusty Chihuahua, Boomer.My mission: to live a life of substance by helping our nation's veterans who have given so much for our freedoms and ways of life.What began as a journey towards a life of substance brought me to the most beautiful state with the best people in the nation. A place I chose—and choose—to call home: North Carolina.Each heart on the map below represents a veteran I helped.

As their son, I will protect North Carolina and our nation until my last breath.</h3>My mother and father never married but each wanted me to carry their last name: 'Clayton' for my mother, 'Ready' for my father. My legal name is David Clayton, however, in various stages of my life I have used both last names separately or hyphenated. You'll see those different versions in various articles and videos covering my life. I've always felt truly lucky to honor their influences in my life this way. This bill bans stock buys for government officials who have blatant conflict of interests in carrying out their governing duties. This bill also expands the ban on stock buys to elected officials' family members and all federally appointed positions.

The current proposed bipartisan legislation is not thorough enough. Federal servants with vested interest in companies benefiting from legislation or government contracts should not be allowed to own stock in those companies.I will expand the proposed legislation to include direct and indirect family members and nullify committee voting power for those who own stocks in the affected companies.Stop digging into our pockets to deepen yours.

No Stock Trades For Elected Officials

I have proposed legislation that safeguards Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid by ensuring that no cuts can be made to these programs when there are outstanding failed audits in other government sectors. For example: the Pentagon has frequent budget increases yet has never passed an audit. The Social Security Administration regularly passes audits. Why is their budget cut while the military receives a blank check? My bill ensures the American public knows where their money goes and that the government is paying as much attention to its budget as everyday Americans do to theirs.

You've paid into it; you deserve it. Social Security, Medicaid, &amp; Medicare must be expanded, not cut.I propose that if a government agency cannot pass an audit, it cannot be given a larger budget. Conversely, passing audits opens budget doors.Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare regularly pass audits; the Pentagon never has.If the Pentagon deserves a new $1 trillion defense budget without passing an audit, we can certainly justify expanding what every American has already paid for and deserves.Get your house in order before coming for mine.

This bill ensures that police officers receive the psychological help they need, simultaneously lowering the number of police brutality cases and civil suits brought against officers and their employers which cost taxpayers billions of dollars.Good cops make good communities.

This national mandate requires that law enforcement officers receive randomized, functional psychological evaluations. Law enforcement takes a mental and emotional toll and, systemically, the message stands that addressing these tolls is 'weak'.This proposal ensures LEOs receive the emotional help they need which will simultaneously lower police brutality cases and civil suits that cost cities and taxpayers billions of dollars.Good cops make good communities; bad cops abuse all communities.

The Policing Wellness Act

Why do the wealthiest of elected officials always ask YOU for more money? Why can't they pay their own way?If an incumbent has a net worth of more than $10 million, they are responsible for paying 75% of their campaigning costs and must match individual donations penny-for-penny should they accept them before meeting their quarterly 75% threshold.

I believe that if an incumbent's net worth is over $10 million, they should cover 75% of their campaign funds themselves rather than ask for donations.My proposal insists on this and that they must match any individual or corporate donations they accept penny-for-penny before meeting the quarterly 75% threshold.&nbsp;Rich candidates: put your money where your mouth is.

Ensuring no federal agency can detain and/or imprison individuals in any facility without due process. State oversight will be mandated for federal custody of individuals.If individuals are apprehended without a judicial warrant with named individuals for apprehension, due process has not been observed and those actions are unconstitutional.All persons get due process.

In 2017, I sold everything, packed my car, and traveled to 33 states in this beautiful nation with my Chihuahua, Boomer.
